I’m playing guitar in Jesse Gimbel’s live band, along with Brian Wilkinson from Like a Fox (bass) and Steve Cawley from Audible (drums). We’ve been rehearsing for the past month and things are really coming together. Looking forward to gigs this fall/winter! All things Jesse Gimbel… The War on Drugs has a new EP called Future Weather out on Secretly Canadian on October 26th, and S.C. are also releasing Nightlands‘ debut Forget the Mantra on November 9th. I’m friends with these guys, worked a bit on both of these records, and I’m super psyched for them to be out! Check out the [...] I am currently mixing the debut MatthewFO EP and recording the new Roomtone EP/LP at my home studio in Philadelphia. Spent the beginning of the week tracking live basics for Roomtone…drums, bass, guitars, percussion, and pedal steel. Borrowed Mike Kennedy’s (Audible) API 312s for the drums. Tea toweled them to 1970’s dry perfection, too. I just finished mastering the self-titled release of the band Papermouth, who are based in Belgium. This record will be available on Bandcamp starting November 1st. The new Creeping Weeds record that I mastered this summer, See Through, is up at Bandcamp. My buddy Dave Hartley (The War On Drugs, Buried Beds, BC Camplight) has spent the last year plus writing and recording a pretty lush record that is not easily pinned down. Pitchfork is referring to it as “Bliss-Pop” and has featured it in yesterday’s Forkcast. Check out what they have to say about Forget [...] Been really busy with a number of recording projects since my last post in April. I’ll be uploading links and some details soon enough. Until then enjoy the new Jesse Gimbel record that I mastered in June… I’ve decided to blow the cobwebs off of some old instrumentals and release them as a mini-EP on Bandcamp. These songs were recorded at home between 2003 and 2006. These were just sketches with the exception of “A Bouquet of Ghosts” which was written and recorded as the theme for a student film called [...] Win!!! Congratulations to Jim and Nancy and the band! The CW network used “Recognize” from Draw Blood! Undead @ Stella Blue on last Monday’s episode of Life Unexpected! I spent some of last August assembling and mastering the live record from DAT recordings done at Stella Blue in Asheville, NC back in 2002. |
